Local author Jeff Obermeyer Releases New Book with Vintage Photos Telling Part of Seattle's Hockey History
Telling
a story in pictures is Seattle Totems, the newest addition to Arcadia Publishing’s Images of Sports series. The book by
local author Marian Rogers-Lindsay is set to release on August 24th, 2015. The
book boasts 205 vintage images, many of which have never been published, and
showcases memories of days gone by.
Before major-league professional sports came to the Northwest, Seattle had a rich minor-league sports history.
Highlights
of
Seattle Totems include:
- Seattle is currently
attempting to secure a NHL (National Hockey League) team, and “Seattle
Totems” is a visual history of professional hockey in the city.
- Seattle was the home to
the first American team to win the Stanley Cup, the oldest trophy in the
four major professional sports in the US.
- Former Seattle Totems photographer Jerry Berg gave the author complete access to his photo archive for use in “Seattle Totems,” as did the family of noted Seattle sports photographer, the late Bob Carver.
